In case of any emergency, dial 112. This single emergency number connects you to medical services, police, and fire brigade. If you need an ambulance, dialling 112 ensures that the closest available one is dispatched to your location.
If you are in the Hondón de las Nieves area, including Urbanizacion La Montanosa and the surrounding countryside, be aware that the ambulance response time could be 15 to 20 minutes, even when an ambulance is immediately available. If an ambulance isn't available, the wait could be longer.
You could also consider going directly to the emergency department in Aspe if you can. While Aspe might not offer all specialized services, the staff can provide initial care and stabilize the patient. If further treatment is required at the Hospital in Elche, an ambulance will transport the patient from Aspe.

If you are involved in or witness a traffic incident, remember three crucial steps: Protect, Advise, and Assist.
Protect yourself and the scene. Park in a safe spot, wear a reflective vest, and signal the area with warning triangles or emergency lights. If there's a risk of fire or hazardous materials, stay clear.
Starting January 2026, Spain will require V-16 emergency lights instead of warning triangles. Until then, you can use either.
Advise by calling emergency services at 112 (they speak multiple languages, including English). Provide:
The accident location (street, landmark, etc.).
The number of injured and their condition (unconscious, bleeding, etc.).
Special circumstances (trapped people, dangerous goods, water hazards, etc.).
The number and type of vehicles involved.
Wait for confirmation from the 112 operator before hanging up.
Assist only after ensuring safety and notifying authorities. Approach the injured with caution:
Don’t move them, especially if they're in a vehicle or wearing a biker's helmet.
Don’t give them food, drink, or medication.
Stay with them, keep them calm, and follow instructions from emergency services.
If you are trained, administer first aid.
Remember, prioritize safety, then call for help, and finally assist those in need. This approach will ensure the best outcomes for everyone involved.
