Hondón de las Nieves – Biennium 2025–2026

Saturday 28 June

00:00 – Election of the “Fondoneres” Major and Honour 2025/2026, at the Bodega, Calle San José, 20. Evening entertainment by the orchestra “FRAGUELPOP”.

The Fondoneres / Fondoneras are girls chosen to represent the town of Hondón de las Nieves at official events and celebrations. Selected every two years, they hold this honorary role for the duration of their reign. There are two groups of Fondoneras: the older girls, typically teenagers, and the younger girls, aged 7 to 10.

During official events, they proudly wear traditional dresses, symbolizing the town's heritage and community spirit. For local girls, being chosen as a Fondonera is both a great honor and a significant responsibility. It is a deeply emotional experience, not only for them but also for their families, who take great pride in seeing their daughters represent Hondón de las Nieves in such a cherished tradition.

Saturday 19 July

22:00 – Official Presentation of the “Fondoneres” Major and Honour 2025/2026 in the Plaza de la Villa/ village square. Accompanied by the local band ‘Unión Musical de Hondón de las Nieves’.

19:30 – ‘Festicolors’ - Festival of Colours at Paseo Juan Bonmatí. Pre-registration required.

Wednesday 30 July

20:00 – Opening of the photo exhibition “Puck’s Photos Return to the Village”, presented by the “Fondoneres”, local authorities, members of the Fiestas Committee, and residents. Bodega/ Calle San José 20 (see map).

Thursday 31 July

19:00 – Judging of the decorated streets. A jury appointed by the Fiestas Committee, accompanied by the traditional dolçaina i tabalet, will select the best-decorated street.

22:00 – Festivities Proclamation in the Plaza de la Villa/village square, delivered by José Bernabéu Cerdá. Followed by the traditional firecracker display (traca), and the TRÓ signalling the official switch-on of the festive lights.
Afterwards, performance by comedian Larry.

Friday 1 August

12:00–15:00 – ‘Ruta de la Tapa’ - Tapas Route.

22:00 – “Sopar de Cabasset” -  Groups of friends and families gather to share a bring-your-own supper in the heart of the town. Everyone brings their own food, creating a unique and joyful atmosphere of togetherness. Tables and chairs are provided by the Town Hall, but registration is required. Live music from “Orquesta Etiqueta Show”. Included in the cultural, musical and performance programme of the Diputación de Alicante. Plaza de la Villa/village square (see map).

Saturday 2 August

12:00–15:00 – ‘Ruta de la Tapa’ - Tapas Route.

23:30 – Grand Retreta - A lively and colourful festive parade featuring marching bands, music, and themed costumes. Families and groups of friends are invited to join in the fun by dressing up in the theme of their choice and parading through the town together. Start: Calle Vereda next to the library, finish: Bodega/ Calle San José 20 (see map), where the Barraca Popular/ outdoor disco will begin. Prior registration required. Prizes for best costume (children and adults).

Sunday 3 August

08:00 – Ringing of the church bells.
19:00 – Floral offering to the Patron Saint of the village, the Virgen de las Nieves. Procession starting outside the municipal library (Calle Vereda), with the participation of the “Fondoneres”, local authorities, members of the Fiestas Committee, the “Rondalla” (local singing and dance group), and residents dressed in traditional attire, heading towards the Parish Church, accompanied by the local band ‘Unión Musical de Hondón de las Nieves’.
All former “Fondoneres” and all residents are invited to take part.

20:30 – Solemn Mass attended by “Fondoneres”, authorities, and residents. After Mass, the Municipal Folklore and Dance Group “Rondalla” will close the offering with performances of the Jota and Malagueña of Hondón in the Plaza de la Villa/ village square.

23:30 – The 80s Vibe by RYD Teatro in the Plaza de la Villa/village square (see map). Included in the Diputación de Alicante’s cultural programme.

Monday 4 August

08:00 – Ringing of bells.
10:30 – Mass in memory of the town's deceased.
11:00 – Parade of Giants and Bigheads through the town, accompanied by dolçaina i tabalet. Departure from Plaza de la Villa/ village square.

18:30 – Procession through the decorated streets with “Fondoneres”, members of the Fiestas Committee, and the local band ‘Unión Musical de Hondón de las Nieves’, paying tribute to the elderly. Tuesday 5 August

MAIN DAY OF OUR FESTIVITIES, DEDICATED TO OUR PATRON SAINT, THE VIRGEN DE LAS NIEVES

08:00 – Bell ringing.
09:00 and 10:00 – Morning Masses in the Parish Church.
11:00 – Musical parade by the local band ‘Unión Musical de Hondón de las Nieves’.
12:00 – Solemn Mass attended by “Fondoneres”, authorities members of the Fiestas Committee and residents.

21:00 – Solemn Procession in honour of our Patron Saint of the village, the Virgen de las Nieves, accompanied by “Fondoneres”, authorities, members of the Fiestas Committee, the Maestro Gilabert Musical Society of Aspe, the ‘Unión Musical de Hondón de las Nieves’, and residents. Wednesday 6 August

Thursday 7 August

18:00 – Children’s play park on Calle Nueva.

Friday 8 August

09:00 – Cycle Tour: departure from Plaza de la Villa to La Canalosa. Refreshments offered to all participants. Upon return to Plaza de la Villa – surprise raffle.

19:00 – Opening of the Traditional Crafts Market by the  “Fondoneres”. Featuring handmade natural and artisanal products in and around Plaza de San Juan. Plaza de San Juan/San Juan Square (see map).

23:00 – Karaoke Competition in Plaza de la Villa/village square (see map).

Saturday 9 August

12:00 – Giant paella at the Municipal Sports Centre. Pre-registration required.
17:00 – Giant water slide at the Municipal Pool (open to all ages).
19:00 – Crafts Market continues, closing around 01:00.
00:00 – Correfocs (fire run). (see video below ⬇️) departing from calle Vereda next to the library (see map), following the usual route.

Sunday 10 August

10:30 – II Vintage Vehicle Show 2025. Route through La Canalosa, Urb. La Montañosa, and the town, ending in Calle Nueva (see map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/DKD4r18XLXQZ9y1U6)  where the cars will be on display. Pre-registration required.

21:00 – Concert by the local band ‘Unión Musical de Hondón de las Nieves’, in the Plaza de la Villa/village square (see map).
Afterwards, fireworks display at the Bodega/ Calle San José 20 (see map), marking the end of the festivities.

12:00 – END-OF-SUMMER PARTY: giant Spanish omelette (pre-registration required) and Children’s Grand Prix at the Municipal Sports Centre.
21:30 – Evening swimming session at the Municipal Pool. Pre-registration required.

19:00 – 21st Urban Cross “El Fondó de les Neus”.
