Dear Residents,
Let's make our surroundings better with simple actions:
Recycling Point/ Eco Park: Dispose of debris, pruning remains, garden waste, appliances, and oils at our recycling point. Open on Wednesdays from 10:30 to 13:30 and from 16:00 to 18:00, and Saturdays from 10:30 to 13:30. It's located in the Industrial Estate (Pol. Ind. Bajo Sombra 64 - see the map below).
You will be asked for your NIE number!
Big cardboard boxes: if they don't fit in the bins need to be taken to the recycling point/ eco park.
Furniture Collection Service: Please refrain from putting large items in the garbage containers. Instead, call Town Hall at 965 480 201 to request the furniture collection service.
Rubbish Collection Schedule: Please see the collection calendar on the right. Dates mark in yellow are the dates without collection.
Pet Owners: If you have a dog, remember to pick up feces and use water with vinegar to prevent odors and stains on facades and roads.
Proper Rubbish Disposal: Avoid using the town's small bins for household rubbish. Seek out the larger containers for disposal.
Mobile Eco Park: Look out for the Mobile Eco Park, which visits Hondón de las Nieves every other Wednesday and La Montañosa every other Saturday. Information below.
Rubbish Segregation: Please refer to the information below. Properly segregated rubbish can be recycled, and the more we recycle, the lower the fee for landfill waste for our municipality.
Summer: During the summer months, it is especially crucial to adhere to the designated disposal times, which are ideally in the evening. This helps ensure that rubbish disposed of after the morning collection does not sit out in the heat for extended periods until the next collection the following day.
Only glass containers, such as soft drinks, wines, sauces, preserves, perfumes, etc. But keep in mind that the lids and caps are separate depending on whether they are made of metal, plastic or cork.
No ceramics e.g. mugs, cups, drinking glasses or plates, no window glass or mirrors.
Although ceramics can be easily confused with glass, they are made from different materials and cannot be recycled. Instead of disposing of them, consider recycling and repurposing them around your home. There are plenty of creative ideas available online.
Empty the containers completely to avoid spills and facilitate recycling.
If you use plastic bags to transport waste to the container, deposit them later in the yellow container.
Only paper; newspapers, magazines and cardboard. Please flatten all your boxes. Rolls (e.g. from toilet paper, paper towel, wrapping paper, recyclable cards (no ribbons, bows, foil wrap))
No used tissues, napkins, kitchen paper, or contaminated paper. They cannot be recycled!
No plasticized or waxed paper, adhesive paper, photographs, shopping receipts, polystyrene trays or cartons.
Fold the cardboard so that it takes up as little space as possible and it is easier for you to put it in the container.
Reuse paper bags or boxes to store paper and cardboard waste at home and put them together in the container.
The most common errors are: with the juice, milk, soup carton boxes. When you think that it is cardboard, you think that this container is your destination, but that is not the case. The carton always goes in the yellow container, since it is made up of cardboard, plastic and aluminum. In addition, daily waste such as kitchen napkins or dirty papers should go with organic waste, since many contain oil and this makes it impossible to treat the material. Diapers should also go with the rest of the waste.
Food packaging; plastic and metal, beverage plastic bottles and their caps (please flatten), aluminum trays, cans, tins, plastic wrap and aluminum foil, aerosol sprays, deodorant bottles, plastic bags, yogurt tubs and lids, cartons and boxes (e.g. from juice, milk, soup), white cork trays, toothpaste tubes, wooden fruit and vegetable boxes, wooden boxes of wines and spirits, ceramic containers, hygiene and cleaning products, such as detergents, fabric softeners.
Flatten the bottles and cartons so that they take up less space and optimise the space inside the container.
It is logical to think that all objects that are made of plastic and that are no longer useful to us go into the yellow container, but this is not always the case. Only what was mentioned above should be deposited in the yellow container.
Items that should not be deposited : plastic toys (which should go to a Recycling Point/ Eco Park or to the waste container, if they are in good condition they can be donated to many organizations that are dedicated to social works), baby bottles and pacifiers (which also go to the Recycling Point/ Eco Park or waste container), kitchen utensils and plastic buckets (the latter should also go to the Recycling Point/ Eco Park or waste container).
Other materials that you may also have doubts about, and that therefore should not be placed in the yellow container, are the following: paper cups from coffee shops, laminated paper used in butchers and fishmongers, Tupperware, Pringles-type tubes, coffee capsules, silicone molds for cooking, thermoses, CD and DVD boxes, VHS video casings and cassette tapes, purses and wallets, pens, pencil sharpeners, lighters, plastic materials for paintings or photographs, medication containers or toiletry bags.
Only rubbish bags / Household waste (in closed bags). Here we can deposit waste that does not go in the other containers, such as hygiene products (diapers, sanitary pads, wipes, cotton buds, toothbrushes, etc.), the remains of sweeping the floor, ceramic and porcelain objects.
No garden waste, building waste, construction debris, cooking oil, batteries, clothing, other waste such as small appliances, furniture, paints, hangers, etc. Please take them to the Eco Park.
ASH CONTAINER
Only ashes. NO HOT 🔥 ASHES!!!
BROWN CONTAINER
In this container we will deposit biodegradable organic waste such as food scraps, coffee grounds and tea bags, small vegetable waste, bottle corks, dirty paper and cardboard (napkins, kitchen paper, etc.).
What we should not deposit in this container is hygienic waste such as diapers or sanitary pads, chewing gum, cigarette butts, pet litter or excrement, dust, or any other waste that is recyclable in any of the other containers.
To deposit waste in the brown container, compostable bags must be used, which allow the composting process. Correctly separating organic waste and depositing it in the brown container allows its transformation into compost, promoting a circular economy and reducing the amount of waste destined for landfills.
With the new service, the brown container will be implemented in the municipality. It is an electronically closed container that will only be opened to those people who have an NFC card (INFORMATION SOON).
You can deposit:
Used mineral and vegetable oil, aerosol sprays, lead batteries, pens and markers, cables and chargers, mobile phones, video tapes, CD, DVD, books, toys, metal, plastic and glass containers, water filters, phytosanitary, fluorescent light tubes, LED lamps and light bulbs, small household appliances, small computer and telecommunications devices, used glasses, bleach, chlorine, ammonia, small metal, batteries, paints in their containers, solvents and detergents, plastic films, x-rays, dangerous residues, toners and ink cartridges, lighters, small appliances with integrated batteries and batteries.
